Zentangle--The good News

This is a Zentangle Inspired Art piece I did for a class I was teaching at my Church. I had over 35 wonderful tanglers at the class. We talked about the meditation aspect of Zentangle and how it can be used to help us find that place of peace in our lives that we all are looking for.

This is the Angel Moroni that stands at the top of many of the
LDS Temples around the world.
I see him as spreading the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
So he also had to have the wonderful good news of Zentangle coming from his trumpet as well.

Math and Tangle Video

OK,  I think I fixed this link on the this post,  This is a wonderful way to look at drawing circles with a Zentangle twist.  I gave a challenge to my Zentangle Club last month to do circles or lines. I am going to share this video with them Wednesday night at our club meeting. I hope you find this as fun as I have.

Zentangle T-Shirt With Bleach

My grandson and I decided to do a little art project, he had been wanting to paint on a T-Shirt when we came across this video where a guy was painting with bleach on a black t-shirt.  Well need I say more, it was just calling to me to tangle.

I just started painting, it starts out pink and turns white as it ages.
This was the first hour or so after painting. I used a very small paint brush and straight bleach.
The shading is also bleach, I will see what it looks like in the morning. I just used a very dry brush and spread the bleach very thin.
This was a very fun project.
I will post more in the morning when I see what it looks like when the bleach stops working.

Livescribe Zentangle Drawing

Check out my Livescribe Zentangle drawing. I just love this way of sharing my Tangles on line. My grandson was staying with me and wanted his mom so you here him in the first Tangle. The second one I added music is you don't like it turn volume down.

New Name for this Blog

I have been informed that I needed to change the name of my blog to comply with the copyright of Zentangle.com
When I became a CZT I must have been in the "tangle trance" and missed the instructions Rick gave about using Zentangle as part of my website name.
I have now read the rules and am complying to the request.  I love Zentangle and the art form and am very pleased to change the name of my Blog. I also have a Facebook page and it now has the same name as my Blog. I think all in all this is a good thing. Inkidoodles and Tangle Teacher CZT, Check out my Facebook page.

Sweet #16 Challenge Mooka

Sweet #16 Challenge Mooka, I am so in love with this tangle. I am sure I will find it in so many of my tiles.
Even when the pen leaks out and you don't notice your work turns out wonderful. If you look close you will see some unwanted ink smudges on the first tile. "No mistakes" just tiny inperfections is such a great way to look at Zentangle's and life.

How to use Markers and Blending Pen with Zentangle

Time To Tangle with Color by Marie Browning, a fun book.  I was in the October Zentangle Certification class with Marie very fun lady.  We road to the airport together, the traffic was something, I live in a small town in Utah not much traffic.  In Boston well that's a different story, on the way to the airport 12 lanes of traffic had to merge into 2 lanes, we were two hours late getting to the airport. I made my flight don't know about Marie.
Enjoy the video!

Zentangle on Black with Sakura Gel Pens.

I have just got to try this one. I have a stack of black paper that will perfect for tangling on. Hope to find time to try this tonight, will post in the morning. Have fun.

Challenge #13

I finished the challenge, I did this on Tuesday but I was not at my computer so getting it posted was a problem. I have been helping my daughter with her sick children.
I did find my left hand can do more than I thought, if I slow down and think.  This was very good Brain Yoga. Thanks Diva

Something Blue Challenge #12

This week the Diva wants us to do "Something Blue" in honor of her Mom's favorite color.
I didn't think I would make it in time, so much going on this week.  But I did it, I have a very hard time adding color I like black and white, so I water colored the paper and put a touch of blue glitter
(you can't see the glitter in the photo).  This was a great challenge.

Teaching the art of Zentangle.

A wonderful class of new tanglers was born today.
I had a home party with 10 ladies. This was a ladies art club, they have been meeting once a month for over 50 years. The hostess had invited her daughter and granddaughter.

The lady on the back right was blind. She did not do a tile but she took notes and was going to go home and try it on her own.  I do believe she was an accomplished artist when had her sight.

The three generation group Granddaughter (floor), Daughter (back middle) and Mother (right behind granddaughter) All three want to keep tangling.

Not all the ladies would let me take a photo of their Zentangle so you only see the seven tangles.

Teaching is so much fun. So glad I am a CZT.

Creating a Toy Box

I pray you....your play needs no excuse.
Never excuse.
                    --William Shakespeare

Saturday I went shopping for some more toys. Art toys, and I created a new toy box.  I have not done Calligraphy for many years and with my new found love for Zentangle.  I decided it was time to pick up the pen and try my hand at the art of Calligraphy again.  I love the pointed pen and the sound it makes when it moves across the paper.   When I watched Maria do Betweed on her blog it brought back fond memories of using the pointed pen. At the first of the video you can here the pen scratch on the paper.  So cool!

I now have a toy box filled with not only Zentangle supplies but also my old toys made new.  Calligraphy pens and ink, now a new look for my art.

"Play is the exultation of the possible," Martin Buber reminds us, Now get your toys and go out and play!

March, there is a blessing in the air....

It is the first mild day of March,
Each minute sweeter than before...
There is a blessing in the air....
...William Wordsworth
This was the first  (second) day of March, and it was beautiful here.  Walked up the street from work to get a book from the local book store.  I lost the book I was going to use for a Story Time at work, so I had to go buy one.  I am a librarian and it was my personal copy. I had to replace.  The day was warm and sunny, in the mid 40*F.  Spring is on its way, there is indeed a blessing in the air. I needed to work on my Challenge tangle block, as I looked for a spring looking tangle. So here is my tangle.  Challenge #11 Monotangle. From I am the Diva.   I think it looks like whirl gigs or in a desperate  need for spring flowers.
Tangling is a blessing in my life so I must tangle on.
Gneiss is the name of this tangle.

Creating a Sacred Space

You must have a room or a certain hour of the day or so where you do not know wat was in the morning paper.... a place where you can simply experience and bring forth what you are, and what you might be....At first you may find nothing's happening....But if you have a sacred place anduse it, take advantage of it, something will happen.--Joseph Campbell
This is my sacred space, it was my husbands desk for a while then he outgrew it, now this is where I do Zentangle and my other art.
I live in a very small home but I do have my space.
Everyone needs a place to tangle.
A place for your brain to find peace.
A place of Joy.
May this last day of February find you in your "Sacred Space".

CZT Cookies

When I went to Whitinsville to get my CZT, we had a wonderful reception at Rick and Maria's home they served great food and drink, but the one thing that stood out in my memory were the Pizzelles.
I had never had a cookie like that before.  I loved them to say the least.....I hadn't even gotten home and I told my husband I had to have a Pizzelle Baker.

Sense October I have made pizzelle's for parties at work weddings, thank you gifts, and just for fun.

I also think the pizzelle would make a great tangle.  I will have to do some deconstruction on the pattern on the cookie and see what I come up with.

What is it you Truly Need? Peace

In my life's chain of events nothing was accidental. everything happened according to an inner need.--Hanna Senesh

I made this tangle for my first Zentangle Class and it came up missing!
  I found it yesterday!
It snowed today 4 to 5 inches, and I am so in need of spring, or maybe PEACE an inner need.

Zentangle--The Authentic Home

Sometimes a person had to go back, really back--to have a sense, and understanding of all that's gone to make them--before they can go foward.  --Paule Marshll
This is my look back on the Authentic Home and teaching of Zentangle.
This was my time at CZT training in October.

I took this photo of one of Maria's beautiful tangles I wish I had this as a print for my home.  Does anyone know if you can get this in a print?

The wonderful "tangle catchers" that Jane Monk did one night because she could not sleep, you know, jet lag and all.  She is just one of the many artist and creative people that I find inspire me.

This is Jane on the right, wonderful creative tangler, and I hope friend, from Tasmania.

This photo was taken at Rick and Maria's home  I love to look at it over and over.   The hospitality was wonderful, at the open house and tour of there gallery.

More pictures of there home, tangles everywhere.

Marie and Rick made everyone of us feel like a honored guest.
This was my look back to the authentic home of Zentangle.
I think this art has made me a different person, can you see why.

Zentangle Challenge #7 Relax, Breath, Smile

I have been teaching Zentangle Classes for a few months now and loving it. I love the art of tangleing and the joy and peace it brings when I tangle.  But I must confess I have not given my students the true Zentangle feeling for I have not given them the Relax, Breath, Smile speech, shame on me.  This was a great challenge I now have the feeling deeply ingrained in my sole. Here are my tangles. All tanges were done in my Field Journal I shall now remember.
